Almost 28 years in Wyck, Wyck.nl, 2024
In 2024, Wyck.nl looked back with Pierre Maas and Dorothy Godding on almost 28 years of De Verwondering. The interview covers the opening on 6 December 1996, the months-long journey through India that sparked their love for handmade products, the importance of continuing to evolve as entrepreneurs and the changes in Hoogbrugstraat. It also highlights a particularly meaningful sign of continuity: customers who first visited as children with their parents now return with children of their own.
25 years of De Verwondering, W!M, November 2021
For the shop’s 25th anniversary, W!M published an extensive interview with Pierre Maas and Dorothy Godding. They talked about opening the shop on 6 December 1996, the journey through India that helped inspire De Verwondering, changes in Hoogbrugstraat and Wyck, the importance of continuing to evolve and a particularly special development: customers who first visited as children now returning with children of their own.

In issue 1 of Chapeau Zakennieuws, De Verwondering was featured in an article built around the colourful Italian leather brand Mywalit. The publication explained how Mywalit found its way into the shop and described De Verwondering’s collection as being selected not according to style or trends, but with feeling and courage. Jewellery, design furniture, textiles and home accessories from different countries were also featured.
Observant, 24 March 2005
Maastricht University newspaper Observant spoke with Pierre Maas in 2005 about students in Wyck and their visibility in Maastricht’s street scene. From De Verwondering, he noted that fewer students visited Hoogbrugstraat after student association Koko moved to Parallelweg, and said he regretted that students were so little visible around the city.
