Arriving in Maastricht by train? Do not head straight for the city centre. This route takes you from the station along Stationsstraat, Wycker Brugstraat, Rechtstraat and Hoogbrugstraat towards the River Maas. Along the way you will find an unusually high concentration of independent businesses, often only a few minutes’ walk apart.

Start at Maastricht Central Station: Stationsstraat

Wyck begins as soon as you leave the station. The broad Stationsstraat is a good introduction to the neighbourhood. For tableware, kitchen items and gifts, visit Foodies in Heels. Further along you will find businesses including Mestrini Maastricht and Leon Martens Juwelier. For coffee, Fixed Gear Coffee is one of the stops along the way.

There is no need to hurry here: Wyck is not merely the route into town, but a shopping district in its own right.

Stationsstraat naturally leads into Wycker Brugstraat, where independent businesses and distinctive local addresses continue. Shoe lovers may know Léon Monfrance and Yves & Guy Monfrance. For fashion, Soldes Boutique and Noir are among the stops. If you prefer coffee or breakfast first, try Van Wijck.

Rather than taking the shortest route to the bridge, turn into Rechtstraat.

It is an easy way to combine two sides of Maastricht in one shopping route: first the independent character of Wyck, then the historic centre.
