About De Verwondering
De Verwondering is an independent concept store in Wyck, Maastricht. Since 6 December 1996, we have been searching for products that surprise: original gifts, affordable design, home accessories, jewellery and brands you do not find on every corner.
Born from curiosity
The shop grew out of a long journey through India. A love of handmade products, distinctive materials and objects with their own story eventually became De Verwondering. That same curiosity still shapes our collection today.
We do not simply choose whatever happens to be trending everywhere. We look for products we genuinely get excited about: well designed, surprising, useful and, wherever possible, fairer, more sustainable, local or made with care.
In Wyck since 1996
De Verwondering is part of Wyck. From our shop on Hoogbrugstraat, we have watched the neighbourhood change over almost three decades, while its mix of independent entrepreneurs, specialist shops and distinctive hospitality has remained an important reason to cross the Meuse and explore this side of Maastricht.

Our selection never stands still. Some brands stay with us for years, while other finds are only here briefly. That is exactly the point. We want regular customers to keep discovering something new and to be a place to visit when you are looking for something less predictable.
